While many have chosen not to have or find no need for the "Sunday School" in todays church, our Sunday School is built around our core commitments as a basic understanding of what a "fully empowered follower" looks like. Sunday School is one of the primary cognitive equipping arms of the church and is a place for depth of instruction in the Word of God. It is an intentional teaching structure through which members of the City of Refuge are grounded in the Bible and challenged to apply the Word to their life in the area of core commitments. The Teachers of Sunday School accomplish this by using 3 teaching aims:
A. Knowledge Aim: The teacher seeks to lead the class in a serious, significant study of a significant portion of Bible material leading to understanding and mastery of that knowledge.
B. Inspiration Aim: The teacher seeks to lead the class to have a deeper appreciation of some spiritual truth or lead them to accept or deepen some Christian ideal.
C. Conduct Response Aim: The teacher seeks to lead the class to express in a specific way some Christian action - preferably in the following week.
If it is your desire to really grow in the Word, join us on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM. See you in Sunday School!
